“My marriage blew up over the weekend.”

I desperately needed someone to talk with right away. A friend told me about eHome counselors. I was able to schedule my first of many session with James in a matter of days. The video format felt like we were in the same room. He was understanding, caring and helpful. I know there are no quick fixes for the pain my husband has caused me. I’m just glad I am not alone.”                                   ~ Wife and mother

    “Clarity, hope

    and fresh air.”

CLARITY: "My counselor helped give me clarity in the midst of a bad situation."

FRESH AIR: "My sessions have been a breath of fresh air! In a short couple months I was already feeling so much better."

HOPE: "My crisis was a wake up call. It's been very dark...but now I have hope again."

How often have you wanted to quit? Was it after a bad day at the office? Was a after an argument with your significant other? Was after a stare down with your teenage kid? Was it after a nightmare filled night after a deployment? Whatever it was, you woke, crawled or made it to the next day. That is something to be proud of. Sometimes, it is hard to get through that next day. Sometimes you just need to talk it out with someone who is willing to listen. That is why Robert went into counseling.

Robert received his Masters of Science degree in clinical counseling from Loyola University of Maryland. He has provided counseling for adolescents and adults dealing with various concerns from school mate relational pressures to major cognitive and emotional disorders. Over the past few years Robert has provided clinical counseling using Adlerian and cognitive behavioral theories in a joint venture with his clients in order to heal the whole person. Robert's work experience as an officer in the United States Army, a corporate software and hardware salesman, and as a youth minister gives him a wide range of life experiences to help him relate to the pressures of life, the realities of loss, and the incredibly rewarding journey of redemption.

We tell our stories - through our bodies, our relationships, our behaviors. And making sense of our stories can change our lives!

Our very first relationships shape us in ways that will set the course for our lives. No one escapes childhood unscarred – some carry more obvious wounds than others, but shame and unmet needs afflict us all. Because of this, we go about getting our needs met in ways that create pain and suffering for ourselves and others. Yet there is hope! We were made for connection, and to live with passion and purpose. As we begin to tell our stories, we gain awareness and can make healthy, life-giving choices. This isn't a process to go at alone. We were made for relationships and healing often comes in the presence of another person's love and acceptance.

That's where the counselor comes in. As a counselor, I invite you to listen to your story – to see pain and unwanted behaviors as symptoms, sign posts – screaming, begging, for your attention. In therapy, we will talk, use art, collage, music, and other ways of allowing all of you to find a voice. I am honored to be a part of the journey with you!

Kristie received her Master of Arts in Counseling in 2003. She practiced as a mental health counselor intern in private practice for several years in Florida before having children. She is a registered Mental Health Counselor Intern in FL. She loves to speak for groups and lead day retreats involving adventure, art, music and horses!

    Online therapy reduces hospital visits

In a four-year Johns Hopkins study that included close to 100,000 veterans, the number of days that patients were hospitalized dropped by 25 percent if they chose online counseling. This is slightly higher than the number of hospital visits experienced by patients who used face-to-face counseling.

Similar results as in room therapy

According to Medical University of South Carolina

the results from a randomized, controlled, open-label non-inferiority trial indicate psychotherapy administered via telemedicine had similar results to therapy via same-room treatment for older veterans with major depressive disorder.

    - U.S. Department of

    Veterans Affairs

    No difference

Fourteen studies of 500 patients have compared tele-psychiatry using standardized assessment instruments that permit meaningful comparisons. In those studies, the current meta-analysis concludes there is no difference in accuracy or satisfaction between the two modalities. Over the next few years, we expect tele-psychiatry to replace I-P in certain research and clinical situations.

    Out lasts face-to-face

A University of Zurich study divided a group of 62 patients in half and found that depression was eased in 53 percent of those given online therapy, compared to 50 percent who had in-person counseling. Three months after completing the study, 57 percent of online patients showed no signs of depression compared to 42 percent with conventional therapy.
